Boca Raton is a generous, warm-hearted community. Explore three ways you can give back this Thanksgiving holiday
We all know that Thanksgiving Day centers around family, food, and football, but the true nature of this November holiday is one where we take the time to express gratitude for our gifts and extend a helping hand to those who may be less fortunate.
While Boca Raton exemplifies the giving spirit year-round through local organizations such as Stand Among Friends, Sweet Dream Makers, and the KidSafe Foundation, the Boca community kicks its charitable heart up a notch during the holidays.
Here are three ways for you to get involved and give back this Thanksgiving near the Royal Palm Yacht & Country Club.
Thanksgiving Banquet for Seniors
Each year, Ruth & Norman Rales Jewish Family Services teams up with the Adolph & Rose Levis Jewish Community Center to host a Thanksgiving banquet for area seniors who would otherwise be alone during the holiday.
Event organizers are seeking volunteers to help provide a festive, joyous time for 700 seniors. The day will include a wonderful home-cooked meal, music, and community. The banquet will be held November 2th8 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. To register to volunteer, click here.
The Giving Tree
For over 20 years, The Giving Tree’s mission has been to “spread kindness, dignity, and hope to those in need” in and around the Boca Raton community. This is no small task. As a 100% volunteer organization, the work of helping children, families, and seniors who’ve fallen on hard times requires plenty of generous, selfless hands.
There are a number of opportunities to get involved, including filling wish lists, donating gift cards or old toys, books, and bikes, or wrapping and delivering gifts. Visit their website to find out more and become a volunteer.
Spirit of Giving Holiday Gift Drive
The Annual Holiday Gift Drive sponsored by the Spirit of Giving in partnership with the Junior League of Boca Raton is a tremendous event. Every holiday season, the goal is to provide gifts to over 4,000 children in need within Palm Beach County.
From sponsoring a child to collecting gifts to making a donation, there are plenty of ways to help the organization meet its goal. Take that generosity one step further and sign up to become a Spirit of Giving volunteer by donating your time, talent, and skills to those in need year-round.
